MAMMOGRAPHY (BREAST EXAM) (top): Day of exam wash off all deodorant, perfume powders or lotions from under the arms and across the chest.
The ideal time to perform a mammogram on women who have menstrual cycles is 7 to 10 days after onset of their period, as the breasts will be less tender.
If you are able to refrain from caffeine for 24 to 48 hours prior to your exam, the exam will be less uncomfortable for you.
Breast implants require more extensive images and require additional time. Please notify us at the time of booking.

BONE DENSITOMETRY(top): Do not wear clothing with zippers or metal.
Weight restrictions of 265 lbs.
Allow 7 days after all Nuclear Medicine and Barium Studies.

ULTRASOUND(top)

CHILDREN  ABDOMEN :

Under two years of age: No preparation is required.

Two (2) to Fourteen (14) years of age:

1.  Low fat supper, the day before the exam.
2.  They can have a low fat snack in evening before 11:00 p.m.
3.  No food or drink after 11:00 p.m. on the day before the exam.
4.  Half hour before the appointment, drink 1 (one) 8 oz.(240 ml) glass of water.

A full bladder is NOT necessary for this exam.

CHILDREN: PELVIC OR RENAL

FULL BLADDER IS PREFFERED

Under two years of age: No preparation is required.
Two (2) to six (6) years of age:
EAT AND DRINK NORMALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY
1.  One hour before the appointment, drink and FINISH 1 (one) 8 oz.(240 ml) glass of water.
2.  Try not to empty bladder, as this makes for a more complete exam.
 

Over six (6) years of age up to 14 years: EAT AND DRINK NORMALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY

1.  One hour before the appointment, drink and FINISH 2 (two) 8 oz. (480 ml)  glasses of water.
2.  Try not to empty bladder, as this makes for a more complete exam. 
 

CHILDREN: ABDOMEN/RENAL OR ABDOMEN/PELVIC:

FULL BLADDER IS PREFFERED

ADULT: OBSTETRICAL (PREGNANCY):

FULL BLADDER IS NEEDED

1.    Drink and eat normally throughout the day.
2.    Empty your bladder 1 ½ hours before your appointment.
3.    One hour before exam FINISH drinking 4 (four) 8 oz.(1000 ml) glasses of water. 
4.    Do not drink any other liquid.
5.    Do not empty bladder.
If bladder is not full, the examination will be rescheduled.

ADULT: PELVIC AND/ OR RENAL

FULL BLADDER IS NEEDED

1.    Drink and eat normally throughout the day.
2.    Empty your bladder 1 ½ hours before your appointment.
3.    One hour before exam FINISH drinking 4 (four) 8 oz.(1000 ml) glasses of water. 
4.    Do not drink any other liquid.
5.    Do not empty bladder.
If bladder is not full, the examination will be rescheduled.

ADULT: ABDOMEN (LIVER, SPLEEN, PANCREAS, AORTA, OR GALLBLADDER):

1.  The evening before your exam, eat a low fat supper.
2.  You may have fat free snack after supper, but do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
3.  Drink 2 (TWO) 8 oz.(480 ml) glasses of water 30 minutes before your exam. (This gets rid of gas in the bowel that builds up while you sleep).
4.  Do not drink any other liquid.
5.  You may use the bathroom;
PLEASE DO NOT CHEW GUM BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT
a full bladder is not required.

ADULT: ABDOMEN AND PELVIC OR ABDOMEN/ RENAL:

FULL BLADDER IS NEEDED

1.    The evening before your exam, eat a low fat supper. 
2.  You may have a fat free snack after supper, but do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
3.  On the morning of your exam, empty bladder 1 ½ hours before appointment.
4.  1 1/2 hours before exam FINISH drinking 4 (four) 8 oz.(1000 ml) glasses of water.
5.  Do not drink any other liquid.
6.  Do not empty bladder.

If bladder is not full, the examination will be rescheduled.

PAIN MANAGEMENT: (top)

THERE IS NO PREPARATION REQUIRED FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT

PLEASE CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN IF YOU ARE ON BLOOD THINNERS, SOME EXAMS REQUIRE YOU TO SUSPEND THEIR USE

YOU CAN NOT BE TAKING ANTIBIOTICS AT THE TIME OF INJECTION

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO FILL IN A SAFETY QUESTIONAIRE BEFORE ENTERING THE MAGNET AREA

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE ALL METAL OBJECTS OUTSIDE THE MAGNET AREA, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES AT HOME
