CHILD PREPARATION FOR ULTRASOUND

CHILDREN: PELVIC OR RENAL

FULL BLADDER IS PREFFERED

Under two years of age: No preparation is required.
Two (2) to six (6) years of age:
EAT AND DRINK NORMALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY
1. One hour before the appointment, drink and FINISH 1 (one) 8 oz. glass of water.
2. Try not to empty bladder, as this makes for a more complete exam.
 

Over six (6) years of age up to 14 years: EAT AND DRINK NORMALLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY

1. One hour before the appointment, drink and FINISH 2 (two) 8 oz. glasses of water.
2. Try not to empty bladder, as this makes for a more complete exam.
 

CHILDREN: ABDOMEN/RENAL OR ABDOMEN/PELVIC:

FULL BLADDER IS PREFFERED

Under two years of age: No preparation is needed.
Two (2) to six (6) years of age:
1. Low fat supper, the day before the exam.
2. They can have a low fat snack in evening before 11:00 p.m.
3. No food or drink after 11:00 p.m. on the day before the exam.
4. One hour before the appointment, drink and FINISH 1 (one) 8 oz. glass of water.
5. Try not to empty bladder, as this makes for a more complete exam.
Over six (6) years of age up to 14 years:
